Marley Marl is launching a web radio station called Future Flavas Radio. This is a program he ran on New York Radio hosted by KRS-One back in 1994. It’s been around for a few years, and now is going online to try and secure a wider audience.
I have a feeling there’s going to be a pretty sick lineup, so check it out .
To be fair, it’s pretty cool looking, but I’m sure it’s absolutely impractical.
It’s supposed to have an ultra-precise motor and the cartridge is made out of titanium. Still, I really don’t know if it’s worth it. I may stick with my low-end tables.
In my googling, I did find some pretty interesting thing. Kanye West’s blog did a on this same topic, and appears to have the exact same wording as the original post I saw on .
Not that it’s that big a deal or anything, but I figure you can at least change the words around a little! Bad on Kanye.
Looking directly at the Montegiro site, I actually think I’m more a fan of the Vivo turntable. Here’s what it looks like:
People officially love hip hop. We’ve seen it time and time again, that someone wants to incorporate hip hop into some other art form.
Now Canada is jumping on the bandwagon. The has set up a hip hopera that focuses on the challenges facing an interracial couple in some nondescript Canadian city.
It was put on as part of the free concert series, but if a storied company like the COC is willing to take on a project like this, maybe it shows something.
Here’s their argument
“While hip hop and opera may sound like an odd combination, they actually have a lot of similarities. Hip hop is frequently criticized for discussing violent themes, but opera, which is often seen as more acceptable, also explores similar dramatic issues, like life, death, and love.”
[Update]
Thanks to our friends over at , we’ve got hold of some video of the performance.
Check out this hilarious video of Bill O’Reilly flipping out at his teleprompter. The video, which has been making the rounds on the internet, is absolutely classic and should put to rest any who doubt O’Reilly’s douche-ness.
After the jump, check out Colbert’s even funnier spoof of the meltdown.
In case your music directory is insanely disorganized, take a gander at MP3 Check. It’ll help you fix up all the gaps in your information, as well sort things for you.
Apparently, you can even search by things like gain and bitrate. That way you can find the quieter and lower quality tracks in your library. Not a bad deal, and worth checking out. You can download it .

is reporting that has relaunched as a completely DRM-Free mp3 store. That means no digitial encryption, no holding back on the amount of devices you can use your mp3′s on.
The Napster website still seems to maintain the old subscription model of purchasing, which only applies to non-Apple devices (no iPods, iPhones). The is also saying they will sell these mp3′s for 99 cents each or for $9.95 per album, which pretty much matches iTunes. These DRM-free tracks can be put onto your iPod or any other device you want.
The plus side is that these tracks are yours to keep forever.
The website Instructables has a pretty awesome post on how to build your own set of iPod speakers if you’ve got an old Hallmark music card around. Check out the post .
It’s a pretty Macgyver move, but one I wholeheartedly approve of. It’s always good to have a pair of speakers around, even if they aren’t super high powered.
Check out the video below for one of the most interesting interviews on the topic of hip-hop I’ve seen in ages. Killer Mike discusses what rap music is missing, real estate, why it’s not cool for emcees to be intelligent and why he wanted to be Boss Hogg when growing up.
